Hello 2015!

Hello everyone, WOW its been a full month since I blogged here. I hope you all had a great celebration during the festive season. While I would love to say that I have been relaxing and enjoying the sunny days, I was actually super busy creating the new label for Three Silent Trees.

As you may have read in my previous post, I was thinking of changing the logo and the whole look of the candle label. And while that was a great idea, it took longer than I thought it would, so after 1 month in the making and the new Three Silent Trees logo is finally launched.

When I created the logo for Three Silent Trees, I was focusing on the number ‘3’ as it is my personal association of balance and harmony, so after coming up with so many variation of ‘3’, I got inspired by ‘III’ from the Roman number. So, if you look at the logo closely, it is a mix of the Roman number ‘3’ and trees. I hope you all find this post inspiring. I am truly in love with the clean simple look of this label. Oh That Christmas Feeling

10 days till Christmas!

Wow, can you believe it! 10 days to go and we will be sitting in the living room with the people closest to us and unwrapping the many many presents.

This time of the year, I’m sure we can all agree that things are getting a little overwhelming, with all the planning, preparations and shopping. So it’s a good time to take a few moments to enjoy this festive season, and by that I don’t mean dashing through the shopping centres with gazillion of shopping bags in your hands. But taking a short walk by yourself, or even sit down in the backyard with a good book can really do wonders in calming your brain.

But above all, enjoy this season and being with your loved ones! x

Tis the gift wrapping season!

Hello everyone, this week my post is about the gift wrapping style that i choose for this Christmas. Now that the Christmas shopping has begun (and hasn’t stopped yet), it’s time to think about what sort of style you are going for this year. I never used to care about the theme too much, but they do look amazing under the Christmas tree if there is a pattern or colour flow. I had planned to go for a gold and black theme, but since I’m a little short on time, I thought I would get creative this year and use what I have at home.

You probably would have seen the rosemary decoration that I used for my engagement party in the previous post, yep that’s right! I’m using it again for the Christmas gift wrap. Not only does it gives the earthy look but also such a fresh fragrance.

Tie your gift with twine and voila! You get yourself a simple gift wrap with a personal touch.

While you are on it, watch a Christmas movie, listen to Christmas tunes and light some candles, have fun working on your wrapping magic!

It is the jolly season

Hello everyone, so the festive season is really here! This is a great time to reflect back to the accomplishment you have made this year and appreciate the wonderful people you have met along the way. For me, this is the time where I look back and can safely say I have accomplished many many wonderful things and have been surrounded with the most wonderful people who have been there to support me (and of course always welcomed home by my 4-legged baby).

So with only 4 weeks to go till we all get to unwrap the lovely presents that Santa brought us, I think it is safe to say that everyone is in the greatest mood and probably madly dashing through the stores to do last minute shopping. This is a great time to show your support to your local sellers and buy yourself and your loved ones something pretty made 100% with love.

After a few years, I finally decided to change the look of Three Silent Trees. This is an exciting change and a huge challenge for me as this is a reflection of my ever changing style. The new look will be simple, elegant and modern, while still maintaining a touch of handmade product. With the Christmas season being so close, I am busy as a bee working on this project. Monday Inspiration

Happy Monday everyone! And Melbournians, I hope you are enjoying the long weekend leading up to Melbourne Cup Day! I know I am, I finally got a chance to take some photos using the new table we got (Whoop whoop!) I’ve been trying to change the look of my candle packaging for a while now. Since the beginning of my candle company, I have been using brown paper to wrap the candles for my customers to create that earthy look. But as my shop starts to grow I feel that I need to create a more modern and clean look for my packaging. So this is what I came up with, a simple packaging that would stand out among the crumpled brown paper padding in the delivery box.

This photo pretty much summarised my weekend off. I have gotten so many inspiration from Real Living Magazine, be it home decor, colour matching inspiration, and many many more. As for the iPad, this is home to all my inspiration photos and holiday happy snaps, also where you can find me pinning away on Pinterest or working on my blog and shop. Oh and I can’t walk past bright coloured flowers and candles, they just have to come home with me and look pretty on my coffee table. Everyone agree?

Rose gold, copper and black! I’m not sure where this new obsession comes from but I’m not complaining because I can find so many of these colours in homeware stores! This rose gold tea light holder is a new addition to my candle family at home. (Yes I have a whole room just for candles). This candle holder and the beautiful bright flower are great if you are looking for a simple and inexpensive way to add some colours on your table. Yep, this is officially my Happy Place!

Our Engagement Day

So the day is finally here to announce to everyone that I’m engaged to this handsome man. It happened about 2 months ago where all the craziness began. From getting engaged, then moving in to our new home, then finally bringing home our new addition to the family, Kenzie. We actually created a small family within this 2 months.

So it is understandable that we had to wait a while before we can have everyone over for housewarming and engagement celebration. Plus it is my birthday too! Oh yes I’m now 25, EEK! But what makes it all even better, is that (most) of the people that meant a lot to me was there to help make the day even more meaningful to both me and Jake.

I don’t want to leave you out of all the fun, so I’m sharing some sneak peaks of the day and also the DIY decorations that we did. But first, I think its only appropriate to introduce and thank these people for their contribution in the party.

Mario and Judith from Preety Creation, Melbourne. Thank you for the beautiful engagement and birthday cake. It is absolutely delish, not just for the tummy but for the eyes too!

My beautiful sister, Tiffany aka the Maid of Honour, is both a pain and a life saver at the same time. But I love her lots and I can’t imagine her not being part of this.

Kenzie has been a big help in the entertainment department. I was a little worried about not having much entertainment set up for our guests, but she proved me wrong, she slept through most of the party but that didn’t stop her from being the centre of attention (even more than me). Thank you for bringing life into the party, little terror!

And last but not least, the man who has changed my life completely. If I am to mention the beautiful things that he has done for me for the last 5.5 years, it will go on forever. So I will just leave it and just say this, I could not imagine a life without him. Thank you for encouraging me to be a strong person that I am today and be the occasional clown to cheer me up when I have a bad day.Ok on to the topic that you are probably dying to see. The DECORATIONS!

So Jake does most of the shopping for this event, as I get to go and pamper myself with a nice long session at the nail salon.

He found this really elegant plastic wine/champagne cups. (you can seriously find some cool things at a $2 shop, so no need to splurge especially if you are using it only once).

Then we dug out our collection of spice and sauce jars. Jake thoroughly cleaned this one with hot soapy water and spray painted the bottom with black matte paint. When the tea lights were lit, it created a soft glow. It is beautiful!

Did I mention how good $2 shop is, oh yes I did. These mini milk bottles are from there! Add a little coloured twine and voila! You can use this to hold utensils, etc. I use it to hold the straws.

I also have this old framed chalkboard from an antique shop stashed in the storage for a while, so we use it to let people know where to add the photos they took for that day. Plus adding a few candles near it draws their attention too as decorations tend to be lost in the middle of food display. 

We have this quite roomy laundry that is joint to the guest toilet, the only problem is there is only 1 sink and that is the one in the laundry next to the washing machine. Its not a very nice look for the party. So the solution? Put white table cloth over it, turn the lights off and only have the fairy lights on and place extra toilet paper rolls on the laundry basket. To top it off, add decorations on the washing machine. I placed the hand wash, candles, a DIY framed piece I did a while ago and flowers. This really change the look of the room, I even consider of leaving the fairy lights there just for daily use.

Just a few beautiful things that I put on the washing machine.

1. I found this handwash at Finders Keepers in Melbourne by Myrtle and Moss

2. A bit of fragrance will definitely freshen the room up, I lit this candle from Ecoya.

3. I made this LOVE piece myself a while back using cutout card on top of gold foil.

You probably notice a lot of rosemary has been used for the decorations, the reason being is that we have a huge rosemary bush in the backyard and when we moved in I thought “SCORE!” Plus placing them near candles releases a beautiful fragrance and really does make a difference.

Girls Night In fundraise for breast cancer awareness

Happy Monday everyone!

First of all, I would like to give a shoutout to the lovely Amy O’Keeffe who is holding a Girls Night In event to support Breast Cancer awareness. As a small business, I feel honoured to be able to donate my soy candle that has been personally handcrafted for this event. So thank you Amy!

I also would like to pass on a huge thank you from myself to those who took part in raising awareness in Breast Cancer this year. In Melbourne, I have seen so many businesses and individuals taking part in either giving donations, creating a gathering for the work community and getting people to participate in events to raise money.

DIY Bed for Kenzie

Happy Monday everyone! As promised, I am posting more about our little puppy Kenzie. She has been settling in so well and we are so in love with her funny antics. After living in a little box for a week, we thought its time she has an upgraded and a more comfortable little box. So, on one sunny spring day, we decided to sit outside while Jake pulled apart the box she had been sleeping in and combine it with another one that we have been using as a display. He combined these two boxes and made it big enough so she can curl comfortably in it even when she grows bigger. Of course she wants to help (see picture below: She is directing Jake haha)Kenzie approve of this post and she gives a paws up for her comfortable bed.
