If you are like me, I love salty and savoury dessert such as cheese, biscuits and salted caramel or chocolate anything. Since moving to our new home, I have learnt to appreciate the little things, the smell of fresh baked muffins, the rosemary, and as most of us in Australia would agree, the classic Barbecue Night! I’m not really sure when it started, it could be that we finally feel like we have the freedom doing what we love in our home, but noticing these little things really inspires me to explore more with my cooking and baking.
So on a fine Sunday, I was playing with the idea of making a savoury dessert, I was going through my “inventory” of my fridge content and I found the ingredients that I have collected to make Chocolate Truffles. So here goes the steps of making assorted Chocolate Truffles.
Ingredients:
225g Cooking Dark Chocolate
170ml Thick Cream
1 Tbsp Raw Cocoa Powder
A handful of roasted and salted pistachio nuts
2 Tbsp Shredded Coconut
Directions:
1. In a saucepan, scoop the thick cream and stir occasionally until it boils.
2. While waiting for the thick cream to boil, chop the chocolate bars and put them into a heat-proof bowl.
3. Once the thick cream has boiled, pour it into the bowl and mix with the chocolate until it forms a thick ganache.
4. Cover the bowl with cling wrap and leave in the fridge for a few hours until it is set.
5. Crush the pistachio using mortar and pestle, it is your preference if you like it smoother or crunchier. I left mine a little more crunchier so it has more texture. Transfer the crushed pistachio into a small bowl.
5. Using a teaspoon, scoop the chocolate ganache and roll them until they form small cocoa balls. Place the cocoa ball into the pistachio bowl and roll until it is covered completely.
6. Do the same with cocoa powder and shredded coconut.
7. Chill it in the fridge if you are not serving them straight away.
8. Enjoy!
I hope that you enjoy my version of Easy Chocolate Truffles. This will make a great activity with the little ones or if you are in a hurry to make a dessert for an impromptu dinner party! x
