Essence of summer by Three Silent Trees

Untitled-1

Hi everyone,

I’m super excited to say that Three Silent Trees finally launched some exciting new fragrances for summer and Christmas. These fragrances includes Winter Nights and Cedar Forest. There are also some very exciting new jars available in store now.

IMG_5794

I just love the look of the mini palm leaves against the new fragrances, makes everything looks very summery. I’m actually inspired to create this campaign while I was researching on honeymoon destination. Hawaii, Fiji, Carribeans, see what I mean?

For those in the Northern Hemisphere probably will be thinking what am I talking about, its winter. It is close to summer down here in Australia. But I haven’t forgotten about our Northern readers. This is why the fragrances that I launched are Christmas fragrances, so you can still enjoy this in your homes surrounded with your loved ones in front of the fire.
IMG_5799 IMG_5804IMG_5793.When I first launched Three Silent Trees soy candle, I have always wanted this brand to be align to my belief that the products and the sources has to be sustainable and eco friendly, hence why I use soy wax and why I encourage my customers to return or reuse the jars. There was even a few times where I handpoured the soy candles into Mason or Fowler jars that I found in a vintage store.

So after a few years in the making, I finally decided, hey why not change the look of the jars so that it is looks the part too. I love the look of this wooden lid jar. Let me know what you think?

We are married!

Yes we are MARRIED!!!

Hi everyone, some of you may or may not know that we had a crazy few months planning leading up to our big day. Hence the reason why I have disappeared for a few months from the face of this blog. But we have gone away and got married and now this duo team is teaming up to face the world together.

It has been 1 month since our wedding and we are still recovering from the hype. It was such a perfect day to celebrate with our 30 closest friends and family. Beautiful venue, amazing staff to make the day go smoothly. Couldn’t have asked for a better day to get married.

DSC01110

I just want to add a few quick thanks for some people who have been a big part in our wedding. Our family and friends who have travelled far to join us, especially our bridal party for putting up with our crazy wishes.

Rebecca and Kim from Glen Erin, I got no words to say how grateful I am for everything that they have done. They seriously have gone above and beyond from the beginning. This team have got us at hello and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice of venue. Oh and not to forget the staff as well, they are professional and accommodating. 10 out of 5 for this venue.

IMG_4525

The first time we met Linda, our celebrant, we decided that we couldn’t have chosen a better celebrant. She kept us calm during the hectic preparation and we just know we can rely on her to make the whole ceremony goes smoothly. Her words are strongly tailored to our story and she tells them beautifully.

Reingard from L’amour Bridal and Adrienne for making me feel like a princess.

Thank you for those who are not mentioned here but were a part of the day and thank you my readers for being patient while I got my head around not just being a blogger and a candle maker but now a Mrs as well. (It will get a bit of getting used to saying that)

Spring Survival Kit

image

So we are just a couple of days away from Spring. I’m glad to announce that I have gone through my first round of hay fever and recovered. However, from my experience in the last few years, I know I’m not really out of the woods yet. But that’s the beauty of living in a country where there are four seasons. I’m just trying to enjoy the beauty of it, the better and the worse. So in saying that, I have collected a few things that I find inspiring and will get me through the hay fever season.

image

The last few years I have been obsessed with bright colours when it comes to spring outfit, accessories and just in general colourful things. But this year, I really want to mix the minimalist style (that I have been obsessing about) and a splash of colour. Yes, I’m keeping it classy and timeless this spring. Now some of you might argue that I’ve used a very autumn-like hue, but keep in mind, these are an add on accessories, NOT your whole outfit.
imageMy survival spring kit list starts with the beauty regime. Because beauty is more powerful when it comes from inside out. So here comes the Aesop cleanser, I love these little testers, they are great if you are travelling or just generally always on the go. Beautiful fragrances and calming flicker from a candle are great for your mind and senses, my favourite is Victoria Secret Coconut Passion (vanilla and coconut fragrance) for the day and Jimmy Choo to show off your inner goddess for the night out in the city. As for the candle, my favourite is my very own handmade Three Silent Trees Lily and Ginger soy candle.

Give your mind a little TLC with Collective Magazine’s inspiring stories or flick through your old photos for some beautiful nostalgic moments.

Now that you are feeling beautiful and confident, time to hit the stores. My favourite at the moment is Pottery Barn, perfect for sprucing up your home after the big spring cleaning session.

I hope you enjoy this week’s Spring Survival Kit list. Watch this space for more ideas or like my Instagram page @doeyandowlette for your daily dose of inspiration.

Earth to Core collaboration | Bowel Cancer Awareness

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well and if you are near Victoria, hopefully you are surviving the cold weather. I have been away on a relaxing week of vacation and now I’m back ready to roll.

These past months, I have been busy arranging this exciting collaboration with Earth to Core. What’s Earth to Core, you ask? It is a group of Design Arts students from Australian Academy of Design who are undertaking a pop up store project as part of their studies. Their project is aimed to raise funds and spreading awareness of bowel cancer.

IMG_5331 copy

June is the national awareness month of bowel cancer and as it is the cause of the second highest number of cancer deaths in Australia, Earth to Core is set to highlight the importance of health and how our overall wellbeing directly impacts the development and prevention of bowel cancer.

Earth to Core focuses on a healthy and balanced lifestyle. They aim to promote soothing and relaxing atmosphere, as constant stress and anxiety can increase the chance of bowel cancer and other illnesses. A few things included in the store are fruits and vegetables, tea, candles and plants with the profits going to the Bowel Cancer Australia. The pop up store collaborates with small businesses, which is great because we always encourage everyone to support your local and small businesses.

This is where Three Silent Trees comes in. We are so privileged to be a part of this amazing cause to help promote relaxation through the beautiful fragrances of soy candles. Also this is a great opportunity to educate our customers about the benefits of soy wax, a more clean and environmentally friendly way to relax.

This beautiful Melbourne season

knitwear

What a great way to start a day off. Styling! Yep, it’s like shopping in your own space. This photoshoot is a combination of the chilly Melbourne morning hue mixed with the warmth from my favourite knitwear and TST soy candle. There is really no plan to what colours goes into this shoot but I thought to add a playful twist to this colour palette by adding a black ear cuff (from Lovisa). Something that I’ve learnt is a little edgy piece goes a long way to add that element of surprise to your outfit.

I hope this post inspires you to find your trusty pieces that you can rely on throughout the week.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Mother's day flatlay

To all you wonderful mums out there, this is the day dedicated for you. For all your hard work raising your children, the shoulder to cry on when teenage life is too much to shoulder, the hand to hold when the little child you know stumble her way to adulthood.

For me, this is the time when mums should be pampered and showered with love (and of course gifts). My favourite choice of presents are pamper kits. What’s not to love? Its a spa in a box. Let the superwoman in your life take a day off from her busy schedule and enjoy these great gifts.

So here you go lovelies, the list of things that you can get to build that pamper kit:

1. Organic Coconut Oil by Coconut Revolution. This baby is amazing for almost everything, it can be used as moisturiser, cleaning off makeup at the end of the day, to quick conditioning for dry, tired hair.

2. Metallic Nomad Triangle Geo Pink Foil cushion from Adairs. Perfect to add a statement to a dark coloured bedroom or as a fun addition to your living room.

3. Japanese Honeysuckle Soy candle by Three Silent Trees. Candles have an instant relaxing effect, and this particular fragrance is very feminine and sweet. Shop here for an express post.

4. Mandarin Face Hydrating Cream from Aesop. I have a serious obsession with Aesop products. They are great for the skin and they smell amazing. Other than that, when you visit their store, their service makes you feel as if you are in a day spa.

5. Statement necklace from Lovisa. Now the pampering is done and she is ready to face the world again, why not add an extra bling to her wardrobe.

6. 365 journal by Kikki.K is a great addition to your pamper kit, this way she can plan her days ahead and make sure there is no more stress trying to remember her appointments, things to do, etc.

Now, I know that you would have done your shopping and this post is probably a little late considering you would’ve given your mum her well deserved presents this morning, but there are those out there who would be celebrating it a little later in the week  and struggling to find the perfect present. So I hope this list help in some way and I wish all the mums out there a Happy Mother’s Day! x

What’s in my bag?

Hello everyone,

A while ago I did a post on ‘What’s in my bag’. I have since updated my bag’s content and this post features all of my favourites.

As some of you might have noticed, I change my interests and style so quickly, it’s ridiculous. This means I’m constantly changing the things that I carry with me in my bag. This time, I’m loving the minimalist style, they are simple, timeless and super elegant. Every girl have their own staple products in their bag. My definite must-haves are my trusty Mini iPad, Michael Kors watch, and since it’s summer here in Australia, MAC BB cream (light, dewy and versatile in this hot weather)Candles in summer? Yes, you can still indulge in nice smelling fragrance in summer, as long as you are keeping an eye on it. Try Satin Sheets soy candle in Baby Metro by Three Silent Trees (Get it here)Do you have similar style? Share your fashion and beauty tip for all girls who are always on the go here. X

Recipe: Chocolate Truffles

IMG_4885 feature

If you are like me, I love salty and savoury dessert such as cheese, biscuits and salted caramel or chocolate anything. Since moving to our new home, I have learnt to appreciate the little things, the smell of fresh baked muffins, the rosemary, and as most of us in Australia would agree, the classic Barbecue Night! I’m not really sure when it started, it could be that we finally feel like we have the freedom doing what we love in our home, but noticing these little things really inspires me to explore more with my cooking and baking.

So on a fine Sunday, I was playing with the idea of making a savoury dessert, I was going through my “inventory” of my fridge content and I found the ingredients that I have collected to make Chocolate Truffles. So here goes the steps of making assorted Chocolate Truffles.

IMG_4874IMG_4875Ingredients:

225g Cooking Dark Chocolate

170ml Thick Cream

1 Tbsp Raw Cocoa Powder

A handful of roasted and salted pistachio nuts

2 Tbsp Shredded Coconut

IMG_4873

Directions:

1. In a saucepan, scoop the thick cream and stir occasionally until it boils.

2. While waiting for the thick cream to boil, chop the chocolate bars and put them into a heat-proof bowl.

3. Once the thick cream has boiled, pour it into the bowl and mix with the chocolate until it forms a thick ganache.

4. Cover the bowl with cling wrap and leave in the fridge for a few hours until it is set.

5. Crush the pistachio using mortar and pestle, it is your preference if you like it smoother or crunchier. I left mine a little more crunchier so it has more texture. Transfer the crushed pistachio into a small bowl.

5. Using a teaspoon, scoop the chocolate ganache and roll them until they form small cocoa balls. Place the cocoa ball into the pistachio bowl and roll until it is covered completely.

6. Do the same with cocoa powder and shredded coconut.

7. Chill it in the fridge if you are not serving them straight away.

8. Enjoy!
